Description:: V. 0.1.3 4/01/20
The epic prose edda visual summary to the god of foresight, Heimdallr, of the Norse mythos. From bottom to top, the piece depicts valiant warriors dining in reverie to reach Vahalla, guided by the valkyries, then crossing the Bifrost ( the rainbow bridge connects midgard and asgard). In comparison, chaos and anarchy reign supreme in Ragnarok’s wake, an end to all.

Heimdallr is born by nine sister mothers of the sea and undines. Resting in his sight is the world tree, Yggdrassil, its branches uniting the nine realms . Nidhogg, the world serpent, is nibbling on its roots. Heimdallr is holding the golden sword. Hofund, in one hand, and the Gjallahorn in the other. Gulltoppr, the golden-maned horse, roams midgard. The golden rooster, Gullinkambi, playfully resting, gives the forewarning of Ragnarok. He wears Freya’s Necklace as his armband from a quest, and Loki is transformed into a salmon in an attempt to take Freya’s Necklace, Brisingamen. Heimdall shapeshifts into a seal to resist.

Ragnarok- the prophecy. Heimdallr’s foresight far exceeds the visual domains, reaching time itself. In it, he sees Fenrir baring its fangs, Surtr with his sword ablaze, Jormungandr the devouring serpent, and chaos consuming all. Nearing the galaxy’s end, all hope is shouldered on one remaining race in reshaping the new world; mankind.

Thoughts::
The missions of this piece was in many parts; comprehending more diverse compositions, reflection on challenges, and a pilgrimage of self discovery. In facing these, we find our truer selves. Inspired and influenced by Alphonse Mucha’s Slav Epic series.

Initially a simpler composition, later enlightenments improved the visual narrative much more, resulting in a rotation of the infinite sign. Similar to the nebulae, the infinite far surpasses our understanding, as so it's beauties.

Technical::
Part of a nebula-themed gods & goddesses series. Digitally hand-painted with Photoshop on Wacom Cintiq 13hd. Span of 16months. Total of 295hrs.

Spec:

Each of these signed artwork are 13x19inch full bleed, printed on a velvet matte paper texture. Superb, vibrant, semi-giclée quality and are lightfast. Avoid direct sunlight. Museum glass is recommended for longevity and minimal glare viewing. Otherwise glass, clear acrylic or plastic surface are encouraged to not only protect, but also a lasting means for you and your family to cherish and share these many more stories to come.
