Description:

Moonchild, goddess of the wild and hunts.
Artemis is the daughter of Zeus and Leto. Twin sister of Apollo. Her characteristics and traits are meant to represent the innocent nature and unhindered reaches, in all of us.

Thoughts:

The stylization choice of this piece is also a tribute and homage to Yoshitaka Amano, one of my favorite artists. Amano has an unyielding creative vision in shaping our visual art industry.

Likewise, my most recent state of mind when it comes to creating visual work has had a profound shift. My sabbatical trip to Tucson Arizona in 2019 had unswirled my cosmic clarity. In it, my exploration has shown me how unfeathering it felt to create from a child’s mind-,unshackled by fundamentals, logic and structural construct that we as artists have long had been clouded by in our own learning. When a child creates, it is not made by the reasons of finite, perfection, or governance of artistic skill pursuits. Rather it is the ability to create the joy to explore the ocean waves, without hatred, unbiased linguistics and a freeing outlook of an infinite beauty. This realisation has led me to shift between my childhood self and my learned artistic self- a better balance and understanding than before.

As such, I wanted to interpret Artemis as this child-like figure, pettit in youth, and a boundless frontier for her to explore.

Likewise, this piece is also part of a tribute series; an open love letter to all these visual pioneers that have inspired me and led me to where I am today. This list includes but is not limited to the following individual voices: Ayami Kojima( Castlevania: Symphony of the night), Yoshitaka Amano( Final Fantasy Series), Justin Sweet( Icewind dale 2 & Table RPG), Yoh Yoshinari( Valkyrie profile), Tsubasa Masao( Tactic Ogre), Yoji Shinkawa( Zone of Enders) and countless more. Without these individuals’ unique voices, creative designs become stagnant.
